چکیده

Chordomas are locally aggressive malignant tumors due to their recurrence potential, originating from the embryonic notochord remnants. Chordomas can originate anywhere on the axial skeleton. They are extradural and are spread by bone destruction. Chordomas are locally aggressive tumors which invade the dura mater, and may also present with secondary intradural growth. The Meckel's cave location of chordomas has been very rarely reported in the literature. Chordomas located in the Meckel's cave can be radiologically confused with trigeminal schwannomas. Herein, we report a case of chordoma located in the Meckel's cave which was successfully excised through neuronavigation-guided endoscopic endonasal excision which is commonly used in the skull base surgeries.

Image-Guided Endoscopic Endonasal Transmaxillary Transpterygoid Approach to Meckel's Cave.

The aim of this report was to summarize our preliminary experience on the resection of tumors located in Meckel's cave via the endoscopic endonasal transmaxillary transpterygoid approach with image-guided system and to investigate the feasibility and efficacy of this approach. Two patients who had tumors in left Meckel's cave underwent surgical treatment using the image-guided endoscopic endona...

Endoscopic endonasal resection of skull base chordoma: case series and review of literature

Background: Skull base chordoma is a rare tumor with slow and progressive growth. Significance of this tumor is it’s difficult to access location in skull base. This is the reason for various proposed techniques for resection of the tumor. Endoscopic endonasal technique is a minimally invasive approach that gives surgeons opportunity of total resection of tumor and low morbidity. Total resectio...

Cutaneous Metastasis from Sacral Chordoma: A Case Report

Chordoma is a malignant, slow growing and locally aggressive tumor. It arises from remnants of the notochord and accounts for 1–4% of all primary bone tumors. They usually arise from anywhere along the spine, from base of the skull to the sacrococcygeal area and usually do not metastasize. Chordomas are slow-growing tumors which are not responsive to conventional chemotherapy or radiation. They...

A rare case of chordoma and craniopharyngioma treated by an endoscopic endonasal, transtubercular transclival approach.

Co-occurrence of different brain tumors is rarely observed, being more frequent in patients affected by genetic syndromes like phacomatoses. Different histological types of intracranial lesions may present at different times in the clinical history of the patient or, more rarely, they may occurr at the same moment. In these last cases, particularly for tumors located in adjacent areas of the br...
